Justin here. Today I have a treat for you guys, a group called Hope Atlantic. This is a new band and I’m actually friends with the bassist (who doesn’t know I’m writing this yet, think he’ll be surprised?).
So what’s the deal with Hope Atlantic? Well if you’ll be patient I’ll tell you. Okay are you ready? Here it is:
They’re awesome.
Now I know you’re probably thinking, “But everything here is awesome Justin. We need more, tell us more!”

We’re not entirely convinced that anything has to be said here. So…umm…here goes…
This song has soul-searing lyrics and killer melodies. It is slow and gentle but yet hard rock. It’s [insert every good descriptive word ever].
Fun fact time! Stairway To Heaven was released in 1971 and – no surprise – it quickly gained popularity. Since then it has been played a gazillion times on the radio (it received a whopping 44 years worth of back-to-back radio play within the first 20 years of its release). Oh, some people think that there are embedded messages about Satan when you play the song backwards, but those people are probably crazy.

One of the things we love about running this site is that when we find a great new band we can immediately post it here and spread the word. Well, this is definitely one of those times.
Ladies and gentlemen we present to you The Moxy. We’re positive we’ll feature this band in the future but for now enjoy their top song, Step Down (it’s bloody amazing, you can listen to it on their Myspace).
Our favorite songs have always been ones with high energy, and that’s exactly what Step Down is. It has it all: solid beats, an absolutely shredding melody, and stunning vocals. Hopefully this band goes straight to the top, they deserve to on talent alone. Plus they just opened for Kill Hannah in July, a concert we’re sorry we missed.

MORE ROCK!
The thing we love most about this song is…okay we totally wrote up something about the amazing introduction but really the whole damn song is what we love.
Here’s an interesting fact: when this song came out (in 1984) it did horrible on the charts. It peaked in the UK at #78 and on the US Top 100 it never passed #25.
It wasn’t until 2009 that VH1 put Rock You Like A Hurricane as the 18th greatest rock song of all time, so it was vindicated.
Vains of Jenna is a Swedish rock band that signed to Bam Margera’s Filthy Note label in 2006 and oh boy…Justin here, I have to interrupt this regular post to say that WE LOVE ROCK!
We love it, and luckily Vains of Jenna plays pure-bred, 100% high octane rock. Head DIRECTLY over to their Myspace page and start up their first song before you continue reading. Go ahead, we’ll wait.

Ahh, classic rock at it’s finest. Supertramp are a musically gifted group, proved in ‘Crime of the Century’.
The second half of the song is where it truly shines. It’s a powerful section you will find yourself replaying over and over.
And there’s a sax solo too? Epic.

Story time! One night a couple years back, we were listening to a local band play at a bar. They covered this song, and it was the first time we had heard it. Of course we were blown away; we didn’t know it was a cover.
We got the chance to talk to the guitarist after their gig, and we moronically asked him about the song. He laughed at us, and made sure to point out that it was this legendary Pixies song.
Long story short: you guys get to learn from our mistakes. Make sure you grab ‘Where is My Mind’; it gets covered regularly for a reason!

‘21st Century’ is a perfect example of what the Red Hot Chili Peppers are all about: rock that’s fun and energetic.
Pair Flea’s insane bass lines with Anthony Kiedis’ always amazing vocals and we’ve got yet another song you’ll be humming in your sleep.

Team Sleep is the side project of Deftones’ lead singer Chino Moreno. This experimental rock group blends electronic samples with mellow guitars and piercing vocals.
For a side project, Team Sleep is a very impressive band. To hear more, check out ‘Your Skull is Red’ by clicking the button below.

‘Tangled Up in Plaid’ can be summed up as a perfect model of the (crudely named) stoner-rock genre. That laid-back riff, mixed with Josh Homme’s vocals flow so well together.
Be prepared to see QotSA quite a bit on this site; they never cease to impress us.
